Programs towards a PhD
PhD program is designated to train leading researchers (or clinician-researchers). Over 100 PhD students (about 20-25 each year) take a major part in Lab activities and diverse research groups in the Dep of Psychology, and after completing the Doctorate, many of them continue to research in the academy, in the mental health and medical systems or in industry. There are more than 100 students studying in the PhD programs.

1.The Regular Program
This program is designated for students that graduated their M.A, and are accepted according to their grads and academic achievements.
They are required to participate in courses (obligatory and elective courses) and submit the research proposal at the end of the first year of studies.

Dear applicant:

PhD candidacy begins with contacting a potential supervisor and working with him on formulating an idea for a preliminary proposal,
once such a contact has been established and there is a principal agreement from the supervisor to support your candidacy.
Instructions for registration for the PhD studies in Psychology for the regular program (after thesis).
To apply for Psychology, a final grade of at least 90 is required for the master's degree in psychology, as well as a grade of at least 90 for the thesis.
PhD registration date, starting from February - April of the same year (no late registration beyond this date).
At the same time as submitting the application online, an email must be sent to the Ph.D. Coordinator in the Department of Psychology, Ms. Ayla Bracha ayala.brachc@biu.ac.il.
- A printed list of the recommenders, no later than the end of February, which will include: the email address of the recommender, telephone and address. 3 recommendations from the academy are required. Attached Doctoral recommendation list form.
- The potential supervisor's confirmation of his agreement to supervise the student. In case the supervisor knows the candidate, it is advisable to ask him for a recommendation (the supervisor must be a senior lecturer or higher).
- The preliminary proposal - until April 19 (the proposal will include initial hypotheses of the research, in 3-4 pages with the supervisor's approval).
Candidates who have completed a master's degree abroad, or at one of the colleges in Israel, must check the recognition of the degree before registering with Ms. Ayala Bracha.
